06/13/2010 - College PREP - Medford (Boston), MA Jacob is a young, thin, 2-way player that plays SS and RHP. He currently projects better in the INF, but still has time to improve at both positions. At SS, Jacob moves well laterally and makes plays on ball hit his way. He has a solid back hand and gets rid of the ball quickly to his target. Jacob throws accurately with some carry across the diamond. If Jacob can become more aggressive, build confidence, and deliver the ball with a higher arm slot, defense will get better. On the mound, Jacob has okay mechanics and a quick arm. He is in the zone with all of his pitches, and with more extension and added arm strength, effectiveness on the mound can improve. Offensively, Jacob has average balance and bat speed. He has a level swing and he puts the ball in play. If Jacob can let the ball travel deeper, shorten his swing, and use more lower 1/2, hitting can get better.
