05/07/2023 - National Showcase - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Jacob is a 2B prospect who will graduate in 2027. A young/developing player with strength present and plenty of room to add throughout. At 2B, he works to center the baseball and plays with good effort/energy. Showed ability to make routine plays. He fields out front with a low funnel. Creates momentum to his target as he throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 70mph. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and crouched stance. He tries to stay in his legs as he hit balls to all fields. He made square contact to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 71mph. With 4 years of continued growth and development, we foresee Jacob having a bright future on the baseball field.

02/20/2023 - National Showcase - Gambrills, MD Jacob continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential has improved through a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half work well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. At 2B, he shows smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as attacks ball and but needs to play through with his body. Hands are clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve his foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/13/2023 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex (MS) Jacob McCue is a 2028 MIF prospect. He displays a strong, accurate arm with a raw velo of 65. He has great energy in the field and makes all the routine plays up the middle. At the plate, he has a squared setup with high hands. A good rhythmic short stride leads to an on-plane swing and consistent contact. Overall he displays athletic movements and this should benefit him greatly as he gets older and stronger.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
