04/22/2018 - College PREP - Louisville, KY Jacob is a lean C/3B who will graduate in 2021. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line to his target through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed a range of 2.40-2.60 with accuracy / carry on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Hands are soft / sure and he tracks balls well through the receiving process but will benefit by presenting a lower target. He uses his body well through the blocking process but needs to get down sooner to center balls out front. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through well with his body. Hands are soft / sure and he presents well out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on the slow roller play, displaying good body control. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work to and through the baseball, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
