08/11/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 2 Jacob is a two-way player at 2B plus on the mound with a lean frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 6.94 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive as he plays through balls, displaying solid body control. Hands and feet work well together through the fielding and throwing process. Throws show accuracy, flashing carry as he will benefit by getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength. Offensively, Syed shows a balanced approach and makes consistent contact but has some mechanical flaws that are hindering him from reaching his full potential. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 76-81 mph with slight arm side run on a downhill plane. Off speed pitches are average to near average, needing further development to be quality pitches at the next level. Jacob has abilities with a lot of room to improve. He is a quality young man who works hard and is improving daily.
