07/10/2022 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (HS) Jacob is a 2023 C who honed his skills during the Cape Cod Training and Competition. Behind the dish, Jacob works hard and hustles on every opportunity. He receives from a low secondary stance and tracks to glove. Throws from a low 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 64mph and a best pop time of 2.51 seconds. Tucks his chin on his blocks. At the plate, he hits from a crouched and square stance with high hands. He takes aggressive hacks and swings with intent. Rotates his lower to launch position as hit balls to the pull side with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. In live game action, he hit a double to LF. With another year of continued growth and development, we foresee Jacob making huge strides on the baseball field.

09/12/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Troy (Albany), NY Jacob is a tall, solid C/2B who will graduate in 2023. Behind the plate, feet are aggressive and active as he works in line to his target, through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 3.00 range with accuracy on his throws. He presents a good target but needs to square up stance and let the ball to travel. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner. At 2B, he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active but needs to attack more and through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, Jacob has potential with time and room to progress his game.

06/25/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Troy (Albany), NY Jacob is a young, strong, 2-way player who plays 2nd base and catcher. In the INF, Jacob has good pre-pitch actions, he keeps the ball in front of his body, and makes the routine plays consistently. He gives very good effort, has a clean exchange, and throws with some accuracy to his target. Behind the plate, Jacob has a good set-up, he tracks the ball well, and sits in quietly. He fields low, his exchange is clean, and has some accuracy to 2nd base. Offensively, Jacob has a tall set-up, he loads well, and swings aggressively. He can spray to all fields and stays level throughout. Jacob can improve overall skills with work on the following.

2. Footwork
3. Release

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
