03/26/2017 - College PREP - Ashburn (DC), VA Jacob is a lean OF/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is well above average as indicated by his 60 time of 7.16. In the OF, he displays smooth / clean actions. He takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls and plays through well with momentum to his target. Range is a plus as he moves well laterally, covering ground. At the plate, he shows an open/ athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he works to utilize his lower half more. On the mound, delivery is sound / repeatable allowing his arm action to work free to the plate. He shows good tempo through a strong balance point. Fastball showed a range of 70-73 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Slider looks just like curveball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 3 years to further develop, Jacob has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
