07/10/2017 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 (Ages 12-14) Jaden continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities with a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, is where he has improved the most through an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. At 1B, he displays proper footwork around the bag and is a quality receiver. Hands are clean and he presents on time and out front. Feet are aggressive as he attacks balls and plays through with his body. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 63 mph. Fastball showed a range of 61-63 mph with tailing action. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

07/10/2016 - California Select Training & Competition - Session 1 Jaden is a two-way prospect with good tools and who is a real student of the game. He takes a big cut at the plate and has displays pop up the middle and to the pull side. At the plate, this 1B has a direct path to the ball with good extension of his arms through the zone. He shows good rhythm at the plate and carries it through his whole body with good lower half rotation. At first, Jaden has good footwork around the bag, using his feet efficiently. He also has soft hands and shows the ability to pick balls out of the dirt, helping his infielders. Getting on a long toss program will help increase arm strength both at first and on the mound. Jaden is a solid prospect and we look forward to seeing him continue to improve.

04/24/2016 - Interactive Video Program - Phoenix, AZ Jaden is a young 2-way player as a RHP/1B. On the mound, this RHP throws a FB & CH from a high 3/4 arm slot. He works to a tall balance point, keeps his eyes on the target and repeats his delivery well. FB ranges from 57-59 mph as he works to keep it down in the zone. He fills up the zone and throws strikes consistently. Changeup has slight cut - 57-59 mph. With the bat, this RHH shows a balanced setup with patience. He takes a hack at pitches in the zone, barrels the ball up and drives the middle of the field. At 1B - Jaden has active pre-pitch footwork and hustles to get into position behind the GB. He tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Pitching
1. Arm strength (long toss)
2. Direction
3. Extension on follow through
Offense
1. Rhythm
2. Shorter/more direct swing path
Defense
1. Lateral quickness
2. Work from the ground-up
3. Footwork around the bag

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
