01/23/2011 - College PREP - Delray Beach, FL Jake is an OF with a solid, athletic frame that is well suited for his position. Foot speed is solid as indicated by his 7.29 60 time. He utilizes his quick, athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles in tracking down balls in the OF. He moves well laterally displaying range with throws showing accuracy but needs to get on a long toss program to aid in further developing more arm strength with carry. Offensively, Molkentin continues to shine showing solid average abilities and power through a balanced approach. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed through a long swing path with power showing best to the pull side. He needs to let the ball travel working to keep hands inside to utilize all fields. Jake has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
