06/26/2023 - National Showcase - Rosemont (Chicago), IL Jake is a solid RHP/SS who has a promising future on the diamond. At SS, defensive abilities are well above average as he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.25 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry (89 mph velocity) to his target. At the plate, he continues to shine through an open setup. Hands are quick (86 mph velocity) and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball with gap to gap pop. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 82-83 mph with arm side run. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his split finger with sinking action. Off speed stuff show as quality pitches that will get outs. Control is well above average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Jake has a big upside and will get looks from the collegiate coaches with his baseball abilities.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
