01/14/2022 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Jackie Robinson Training Complex(Ages 12-14) Jake is a 2B/RHP in the class of 2026 out of Meriden, CT. At 2B, he works to take good angles to the baseball and makes the routine play consistently. He has a clean exchange and exhibited the ability to throw from multiple arm angles. At the plate, he uses loose hands and a level swing to make solid contact and hit line drives all over the field. On the mound, he displayed good direction in his pitching mechanics and working down the mound with a controlled landing. He was able to throw strikes with all 3 of his pitches (fastball, breaking ball, change up). Jake could benefit from programs/drills such as strength training, speed, agility, bands and arm path drills.

08/21/2021 - Summer Pro Training Experience - MD (MS) Jake is a 2B prospect who worked hard on his skills during the Summer Pro Training Experience. In the field, Jake works to get his glove out in front of him and tries to take solid angles. He fields in an athletic position with soft hands and has a smooth exchange. He gets rid of the ball efficiently and makes accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a tall stance and takes a short stride. He is smooth to load and drives through well with his barrel. He stays compact through the ball and sprays to all fields. With five more years to develop, Jake has the time and potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

08/15/2021 - All-In Membership - Manchester, CT Jake continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ball and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he continues to shine through an athletic, squared setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 56 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. Stock on the mound will continue to improve as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

07/05/2021 - Cape Cod Select Training & Competition (MS) Jake had a great event at the Cape Cod event. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power owe ring best to the pull side. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 52-53 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape displays with gradual break. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and developing off speed pitches will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

11/12/2020 - Baseball Factory Select Training at Pirate City Jake continues to shine on the diamond. At 2B, he displays clean / smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power owe ring best to the pull side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 54 mph. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and developing off speed pitches will aid in improving abilities on the mound. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a positive attitude, works hard, and is very coachable.

07/06/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - New Britain (Hartford), CT Jake is a young (2026 grad) R/R MIF. With the bat, this RHH displays a square setup with fluid rhythm to load. He takes a hack and swings against a firm front side, connecting and driving the ball back up the middle of the field. Working to stride more square while creating more extension through contact will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Defensively, he hustles into a square fielding position behind the GB. He works right to left, tracks the ball into his mitt and gathers well. Working to develop his footwork/agility/speed will aid in his overall defensive development. Falis still has a ton of to to progress and physically mature.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
