12/27/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Holiday Classic (HS) Jake is a 2026 shortstop and right-handed pitcher from Winthrop, WA, who showcased his abilities at the Baseball Factory West Coast Holiday Camp. On the mound, Jake has a smooth delivery with great ability to repeat it and excellent composure. He works to pitch ahead in the count, and in two innings of work, he struck out one and only allowed one hit. At the plate, Jake starts in a relaxed stance with a quiet head and high hands. He hits into a firm front side with controlled rhythm and great awareness of the strike zone. He was a tough out during the games, recording two singles, a double, two walks, and getting hit by two pitches. In the infield, Jake starts on the balls of his feet with efficient footwork and good reads off the bat. He closes distance on batted balls, presents his glove well, and throws from multiple arm slots. Another year of growth and development will help Jake continue to refine his skills and elevate his game.

07/28/2024 - National Showcase - Redmond, WA Jake is a 2026 shortstop and right-handed pitcher with quick footwork and athletic movements. He demonstrates a solid backhand and follows through well on his throws. His throws are accurate, and with added arm strength, they'll only get better. At the plate, Jake employs a line-drive approach, starting from a square stance with a short stride. On the mound, he shows an accurate arm, reaching 74 mph with his fastball. He effectively fills the zone with a solid three-pitch mix when in control, and as he continues to develop consistency in his tempo, his performance will improve further. Overall, Jake is poised to make strides in all aspects of his game as he grows and develops.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
