07/31/2013 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Jake is a big/strong built 2B that will graduate in 2014. Offensively, he has a good approach at the plate with ability to center contact, at times. He pressures the defense by putting the ball in play and never giving in. Simplifying his lower half setup will allow him to have a cleaner swing path. At second, he makes the routine plays and shows good feel for where he needs to be throughout the game (cuts & relays and general positioning. Softening his hands and loosening up his actions will make him a more well rounded defender. Overall, Karber is a great kid that has good energy for the game, and plays hard. In the future, he may move to a corner spot, considering his build and hit ability.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
