05/16/2010 - College PREP - Salem, OR Jake is a 3B with a solid, heavy frame that shows projection as he continues to polish, firming up. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with feet / hands. Glove action is soft, clean, and sure in making all the plays. Throws are accurate, flashing carry across the diamond as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. Offensively is where Keller shows best through a solid approach and set up. Bat speed is present as swing path is short, compact to the baseball. He has strength in his swing with baseball exploding off his bat when centered as power is best to the pull side. Jake has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches with his abilities at the plate.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
