Official Scouting Report

  • Class Rating
  • 3B/RHPPosition Projection

07/27/2010 - College PREP - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Jake is a tall, thin, 2-way player that showed some improvements in his game at his last workout. He lowered his 60 time from 7.18 to 6.91 and increased his radar velocity from 78 to 81 MPH. On the mound, Jake has good direction toward the plate, he repeats his delivery, and he keeps his eyes to his target. He works to his balance point well and keeps the same arm speed with all of his pitches. Mound effectiveness can improve if Jake can add arm strength and physical strength, get more glove side lead, and tap into more lower 1/2. At 3B, Jake presents his glove well, has soft hands, and good range. He has good / quick feet and an accurate throwing arm across the diamond. Offensively, Jake has a good set-up, he is short to the ball, and he centers it well on the barrel. He has a level swing, good barrel accuracy, and he can hit the ball to all fields. Hitting can get better with a more still head, not dropping his hands, and more use of his lower 1/2.

12/27/2009 - Christmas Camp and Tournament #2 Jake is a two-way player at 3B plus on the mound with tall, thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, filling out. Currently, he projects best at 3B for the next level. Foot speed is in above average as indicated by his 7.18 60 time. Feet are active but needs to be more aggressive in his approach on ground balls. Glove action is soft and sure in making the plays as his throws display carry across the diamond. At the plate, Rosenbaum shows a solid approach, flashing bat speed through a short, compact path. Lower half works with baseball jumping off his bat when centered as he as 3 for 8 at the event. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 73-78 mph with sinking action. Off speed pitches are average as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Jake has potential as a position player and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
