01/15/2010 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2010 Jake continues to show solid baseball skills both at 1B and on the mound. He improved in many categories during his time at the UA Preseason All-America. At 1B, Jake has a plus arm with plenty of life and carry. He can throw from all angles, has sound footwork, and turns a nice double play. His arm and fielding grades both improved from 50 to 55 and 48 to 52 respectively. On the mound, Jakes FB touched 89 MPH, which is improved from 84 MPH at the last event. He throws 4 solid pitches with his over the top arm slot, and the ball comes easily out of his hand. Jake is smooth to his balance point, he has solid tempo, and he works well at the hitters knees. More lower 1/2 extension, and a looser finish could help Jake's abilities on the mound improve. Offensively, Jake has good balance, bat speed, and loads of power. His swing is level, the ball jumps off of his bat, and he gets good backspin on the ball. Jake is a solid 2-way player at the next level.
