08/20/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC James is an athletic 1B/LHP. Defensively at 1B, he shows active footwork as he tries to work into a square fielding position on GB's. He gets rid of the ball with a clean exchange and fires accurate throws to his target. On the mound, this LHP has a strong mound presence. He delivers from a hi 3/4 arm slot with loose arm action and finishes with extension towards home plate. As a hitter, James displays a balanced setup. He explodes his lower 1/2, swings on a direct path through the zone and drive pitches on a line. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
