08/01/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - West Lawn, PA - AM Jared is a left handed hitting OF / C who will graduate in 2011. He currently projects better behind the plate as he approaches his Senior year. Jared blocks and receives the ball well, has quiet actions, and he holds a low target. He has good flexion, he covers the "5" hole when blocking, and he centers the ball well on his chest. Jared gets rid of the ball quickly, with some carry and accuracy to his target. Added arm strength and a wider base should help Jared improve behind the dish. In the OF, Jared gets in a good ready position and he fields the ball on his glove side. He reads the ball well off the bat and he works around the ball. Jared delivers the ball accurately to his target. In order for defensive skills to get better, Jared will need to work in better rhythm, quicken his exchange, and add arm strength. Offensively, Jared has a good set-up, quiet approach, and a level swing. He tracks the ball well, has good barrel accuracy, and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. Hitting can get better if Jared can avoid spinning off the ball and work to drive the away pitch better.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
