05/27/2024 - National Showcase - Fresno, CA Jason continues to shine on the diamond with his baseball abilities. In the OF, he displays smooth fluid actions. He takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness (7.40 60 time) in covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/01/2023 - Baseball Factory Academic All-American Tournament Jason continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities as we got a chance to see him at the Academic All-American Tournament. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth/fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through with momentum to his target. He utilizes his foot quickness in covering a lot of ground. At the plate, he continues to shine through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work to and through a short/direct/level swing path, creating extension. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 2 for 6 with a 2B. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 65-67 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

09/04/2023 - National Showcase - Fresno, CA Jason is an OF/LHP prospect who will graduate in 2026. Jason has improved in all facets of his game and is on path to have opportunities to play at the next level. In the OF, he shows active feet and ability to run good routes to baseballs. Fields the ball from a low fielding position with a quick exchange off his right foot. Good reads off the bat enable him to flip his hips and works behind/through the baseball with a high 1-hand catch. Made accurate throws through his cutoff man from a 3/4 arm slot and an arm velocity up to 72mph. On the mound, this left-handed pitcher works with good tempo and keeps his eyes on his target. Has a compact motion and rotates to his target. He challenges hitters with a FB that sits 66-69mph with arm side run, a 1/7 shaped breaking ball with signs of command, and a changeup with arm side run that he throws with FB arm speed. CH was best pitch during his bullpen session. At the plate he hits from an athletic and open stance. He hits into a firm front side and weight is between his knees at contact. He hit hard line drives to all fields with a bat exit velocity up to 75mph during BP. As he continues to develop and mature, we see Jason making huge strides on the baseball field.

12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory West Coast Winter Classic Jason is a LHP/OF in the class of 2026 out of Fresno, CA. He's a hard worker who hustles and is coachable. Defensively, Jason has active feet and gets behind the baseball. He has solid glove presentation and his exchanges are quick and clean. He makes accurate throws that are inline to the base. On the mound, he has a 3 pitch mix from the stretch. His fastball topped out at 60, CB at 50 and change at 55. His CB has 1-7 shape and his change up showed signs of great command. He shows great poise and competes when he gets the ball. As a hitter, he has great balance and body control. He begins with a slightly open stance and gets back to square in his stride. He has a short barrel path that produces line drive to all parts of the field. Jason will only improve as he continues to work on his game.

09/26/2021 - All-In Membership - Visalia, CA Jason is an athletic OF/LHP who has a promising future on the diamond. In the OF, he displays smooth/clean actions. He takes proper routes/angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing and he maintains balance. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 54-57 mph. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. With 5 years to further develop, Jason has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
