06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Milton continues to show a lot of improvement in his baseball abilities and is now a class 4 type player on the mound. He showed improved arm strength as he topped out at 86 mph. Fastball showed a range of 81-86 mph on a strong downhill plane. Off speed pitches show potential as being quality pitches for the next level. Offensively, hitting grades and power numbers have improved as he shows strength in his swing to all fields as he works to keep hands inside the ball. At the event, he was 5 for 8 with a 2B.

05/23/2010 - College PREP - New Orleans, LA Jason is a lean, athletic RHP with good stuff. On the mound he has loose actions, he keeps his eyes to his target, and he has good direction. Jason is mechanically sound, he attacks the zone, and is consistent with all of his pitches. If Jason can get on top of his pitches more, and add arm strength, his stock on the mound will rise. At the plate, Jason has a good / quiet set-up and he stays through the ball. He has a good launch, he can spray the ball to all fields, and he puts the ball in play. Better barrel accuracy and more use of his lower 1/2 sill help offensive tool grades improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
