Official Scouting Report

  • 1B/RHPPosition Projection

12/27/2023 - Baseball Factory East Coast Winter Classic Jason is a 2029 1B/RHP who showcased his skills during the BF East Coast Winter Classic. At 1B he works to keep ball in front of him and has good footwork around bag. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with an arm velocity up to 65mph. This right-handed pitcher works exclusively from the stretch. He has a simple delivery and repeats it. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 51-59mph, an 11/5 shaped breaking ball with good command, and a developing change. In 2 innings of work, he punched out 1 batter and threw 55% of his pitches for strikes. At the plate he hits from an upright and even stance with loose hands. He takes an aggressive with some natural pop in his bat. In live game action he reached base 2 times with a single and was hit by a pitch. Jason has a great attitude and worked hard all week. We look forward to seeing him at another event in the near future.

08/23/2023 - National Showcase - Trenton, NJ Jason is a 1B/RHP in the 2029 class. In the field, he shows a solid target for his defenders. He gains a squared fielding position and a loose and quick arm. Working to throw the top of the baseball will add carry to the ball. On the mound, he stays in-line and keps his eyes to the target. His FB sat 55-7. His CB had 11-5 shape and ranged 42-6. His CH had FB arm speed and topped at 50. Working to gain on-time separation will help him gain the strike zone. At the plate, he shows a solid hand load and has a simple and repeatable swing. Hits well to the pull side with an on-plane barrel. Overall, solid young two-way player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
