12/02/2012 - College PREP - McCook (Chicago), IL Jason is a young two-position player with a strong arm. In the infield, the 2015 shortstop has some prep to his footwork and moves through the ball right to left. Arm has life will show more when he allows his body to move all the way through the play. Double play actions need to improve and it would help him to be able to raise his arm slot one notch. With the bat, Jason has some rhythm, but his load is a bit loud. There is a lot of tension in the swing which leads to inconsistent barrel contact. Still, he delivers the barrel aggressively and works to the big part of the field. On the mound, he has a curveball and a changeup to go with his running fastball. His arm action is clean and his delivery is smooth. Rotation is a bit early at times. His fastball is heavy, and his 10/4 shaped curveball is sharp and late. The changeup can be too hard at times but has the same arm side movement as the fastball. Again, a young player with some upside on the mound and in the infield. Needs to continue to shore up mechanics with the glove and at the plate, as well as work on overall athleticism.
