08/29/2010 - College PREP - Hampton, VA Jason is a thin, wiry, 1st baseman that will graduate in 2012. In the INF, Jason presents his glove well and fields on the glove side. He has decent footwork and he fields the ball out in front of his body. Jason has a decent exchange, and throws with some accuracy to his target. If Jason can add arm strength, lengthen his arm action, and improve his backhand, abilities at 1st base will get better. Offensively, Jason has average balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has some strength in his swing, he uses all fields, and he hits the ball hard when centered. Looser actions and more direct hands to the ball will help offensive numbers spike.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
