10/24/2010 - College PREP - Marlborough (Boston), MA Jasper showed some improvements in his game in the INF during his last workout in Boston. He is a tall, athletic player, that also pitched at the event. In the INF, Jasper is light on his feet and aggressive to the ball. He has soft / sure hands, he fields the ball in an athletic position, and he has a good feel around the bag. Jasper is agile for a big guy, and throws accurately with carry to his target. Abilities at 1st base can get better with an earlier glove and by working in a lower fielding position. On the mound, Jasper works in quick tempo, he keeps his eyes to his target, and he works to his balance point well. Jasper has a long arm action back, and his off-speed pitches show promise. Jasper can improve mound effectiveness by loosening his arm going forward, finishing off his pitches better, and adding arm strength. At the plate, Jasper has a square stance, short stride, and good balance. He has playable bat speed, a line drive approach, and he can spray to all fields. If Jasper can lower his elbow, and polish his mechanics, we could see offensive grades get better. He currently projects best as a 1B for the next level.
