08/04/2010 - College Prep Super Regional - Mattoon, IL - AM Jaton is a strong, lean, 3B / Catcher that will graduate in 2011. In the INF, Jaton is aggressive to the ball and shows a good set-up. He has average hands and feet, and he makes plays on balls hit his way. Jaton has a good arm action and throws downhill to his target. Behind the plate, Jaton has a nice base, eyes to the ball, and he moves well laterally. He blocks the ball well and throws with good carry to his target. Abilities behind the plate can improve if Jaton can quicken his exchange and avoid falling off. At the plate, Jaton has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. He has life in the barrel, quick hands, and he puts the ball in play. More direct hands to the ball and a leveled off swing should help offensive numbers further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
