09/22/2010 - Under Armour Fall Classic - 2010 Sperry has a tall and lean frame, with room to add strength as he matures. He featured a loose and live arm on the mound, where he topped at 84 with his fastball - a little off the 87 we saw from him earlier in the month. His second outing was much better than his first. He had good tempo, and was more athletic in his delivery. When he was on, he threw a lot of strikes and got a lot of ground balls thanks to good run and sink on his fastball. His breaking ball is a work in progress, it has good rotation and good bit when he gets it out front. He needs to work to stay taller on his back leg, tends to sink into that leg which forces his shoulders uphill and results in misses high and to arm side. When he works downhill his command is better, as is the action on his pitches. He has potential to develop further on the mound. Defensively, he was solid at both 3B and 1B. His swing was short, but his stance appeared to be a little too wide and caused him to get tied up at times. Can get into a more athletic position to help him rotate his hips better, has some power to pull side that he can unlock. Overall, a projectable right hander with present mid to upper 80s velocity and the makings of a quality breaking ball. He improved his 60yd dash time by over three tenths of a second, down from 7.69 to 7.37.
