03/18/2018 - College PREP - Kannapolis (Charlotte), NC Jaycob is an athletic and talented 2019 SS prospect. At SS, Jaycob has an active prep step and presents a low/early glove. He has a quick first step to the ball, works from the ground up, and has good footwork on double play turns. At the plate, Jaycob starts in a squared stance and loads his hands back into the drive position. He hits off a frim front side and stays balanced through contact. Jaycob will continue to improve with experience and we hope to see his progress in the future.

01/29/2017 - College PREP - Myrtle Beach, SC Jaycob is a lean, athletic 2B who will graduate in 2019. At the plate is where he shows best through a squared setup with balance. Hands are quick and work through a direct / level swing path. He shows a feel for the barrel and makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. In the MIF, feet are active as he works to square balls up. Glove action is clean but will benefit by presenting more out front. He needs to attack balls more and play through with his body to improve defensive grade. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. With 2 years to further develop, Jaycob has abilities with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
