11/08/2024 - Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training (MS) Jamyien is a hardworking catcher and right-handed pitcher from Denham Springs, LA, who made notable progress at the Baseball Factory West Coast Fall Training in Arizona. Behind the plate, he presents a solid target with quiet, smooth actions and throws from a high three-quarter release point, achieving an arm velocity of up to 57 mph. He works hard to center the ball on blocks, showing a solid understanding of the fundamentals, though continued focus on improving his blocking technique will help him become even more effective. At the plate, Jamyien starts in an upright stance and shows good strike zone awareness and tracking ability. However, he has a tendency to step in the bucket, which causes him to lose his balance and timing—something he can work on refining as he progresses. On the mound, Jamyien demonstrated good mechanics and a projectable frame, throwing his fastball up to 62 mph. With his long levers and physical tools, Jamyien has a great foundation to continue growing as both a catcher and a pitcher. His frame and natural ability give him significant upside, and with continued hard work and refinement, he has the potential to develop into a highly skilled player in both positions.

07/14/2024 - Baseball Factory Texas All Star Experience Jaymien showed as a catcher for the first time at the event. He shows a squared setup and firm glove, sticking pitches in the zone. He needs to use his body more through the blocking process to center ball well out front. Pop times showed in the 4.19 range and accuracy on his throws. As he builds arm strength through a long toss program, we can expect those pop times to drop. At the plate, he shows a squared setup and loose hands help him generate an aggressive swing path, leading to consistent contact. His line drive approach reflects his ability to hit the ball effectively, particularly to the pull side. As he refines the efficiency of his lower half during his swing, he is likely to see an increase in his power, which will add another dimension to his offensive game. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

06/01/2024 - BF Evaluation Experience at Pigeon Forge Jaymien is an athletic 3B who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square ground balls up but needs to play through with his body. Glove action is firm and shows out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. Throws are accurate but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an open setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He makes consistent contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. With 6 years to further develop, Jaymien has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
