11/07/2021 - All-In Membership - Sanford (Orlando), FL Jayven is a lean 2B/C who will graduate in 2025. At 2B, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he works around but needs to play through balls more with his body. Glove action is clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. He moves well laterally with range improving as he increases foot quickness. Behind the plate, feet are active as he works in line through a clean transfer / exchange. Pop times showed in the 2.30 range with accuracy on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. He shows a squared setup and presents a soft mitt out front and utilizes his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get down sooner. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through level swing path. He makes consistent hard contact through a line drive approach with power showing best to the pull side. Lower half works well through the swing and he shows a feel for the barrel. With 4 years to further develop, Jayven has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
