01/03/2010 - College PREP - San Antonio, TX Jeremy showed improvement in his baseball abilities since his last saw him 12/09. He improved in many categories both on the mound, at 1B, and at the plate. Jeremy's velocity showed similar, but his CB and CH showed much better. He mechanics were sound, the ball showed life out of his hand, and he worked down in the zone. Jeremy's delivery, arm action, and control numbers all improved as well. With more extension, arm speed, and use of his lower 1/2, we could see grades rise even more. At 1B, Jeremy showed a solid glove and he takes appropriate angles to the ball. His body was in rhythm and his arm grade improved from 42 to 48. Jeremy will still need to work to lighten his feet to become even more of a defensive threat. Offensively, Jeremy has good balance, bat speed, and barrel accuracy. His bat is quick and his swing is in rhythm. Jeremy makes good use of his lower 1/2, and can further improve if he can widen his stance and work on the inside pitch. Overall hitting number improved from 35 to 45 and power from 35 to 50.

12/06/2009 - College PREP - Cedar Hill, TX Jeremy is a 2010, 2-way player on the mound and at 1B. He currently projects better on the mound, where his FB touched 81 MPH. His mechanics are sound, and he works with good tempo, and in rhythm. Jeremy's CH had good feel, some A/S run, and is a good 3rd pitch at the High School level. Overall, Jeremy has a good idea on the mound, and with work to "finish" his pitches, and strengthen his arm, abilities on the mound could rise. At 1B, Jeremy stays in front of the baseball, and he moves well laterally. His arm across the diamond shows well, and he was consistent in making the plays. If Jeremy can lighten up his feet, and field the ball in a lower position, we could see defensive abilities improve. Offensively, Jeremy has a good set up and keeps his head and eyes on the baseball. He will need to work on his rhythm, load, and extension to the baseball if he wants to be an offensive threat at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
