08/04/2010 - Pirate City World Series 2010 - Session 1 Jesse is a young two-way player at 2B plus on the mound with a small, athletic body that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Currently, he projects best at 2B for the next level. Foot speed is above average as indicated by his 7.03 60 time. Feet are active and aggressive in coming to get, playing through the baseball with body. He moves well laterally displaying range with plus, soft hands. Arm action is quick, showing accuracy but will benefit by getting on a long toss program. Offensively, Beltran shows an aggressive approach with hands flashing bat speed as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to improve as he learns to utilize his lower half more efficiently through the swing. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 66-72 mph on a downhill plane. Off speed pitches slightly above average to average, need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 2 years to further develop, Jesse has abilities with time and room to improve.
