07/26/2013 - Under Armour Showcase: Baseball Factory's Team One North Jesse worked out both on the mound and at 1B during his workout at Team One North. On the hill, Jesse showed good balance, he ability to hide the ball from the hitter and he works ahead. He has a loose arm, good direction toward home, and he works both sides of the plate well. At 1st base, Jesse has an early glove, he fields out front, and he makes plays consistently. Offensively, Jesse is a contact hitter who can hit to all fields. He has a proper load and gets good extension through the baseball.

03/10/2013 - College PREP - Hightstown, NJ Jesse is a tall and thick, 2-way player who pitches and plays 1B. He has made quite an improvement on the hill with his FB now topping out at 84 mph (an 8 mph jump). Jesse has a long / loose arm, he works to his balance point well, and his delivery is smooth. He has good direction toward home, he competes in the zone, and he finishes in a complete position. Not landing closed off and more command with his off-speed will only improve mound effectiveness. At 1B, Jesse has soft hands, active feet, and he fields athletically. He has natural movements, his exchange is clean, and he delivers the ball accurately with life to his target. At the plate, Jesse has an open stance, good balance, and a short stride. He has fast bat speed, he makes hard contact, and he swings in good rhythm. A shorter swing, not spinning off the ball, and more lower 1/2 will spike hitting numbers. This LHP will have success in the future with his abilities on the mound.

08/01/2012 - Baseball Factory National World Series at Pirate City - Session 1 Jesse continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date but will benefit by continuing to improve foot quickness. At 1B, feet are active as he moves well laterally and displays proper footwork around the bag. Hands are soft / sure as he consistently showed the ability to pick ball out of the dirt, saving throws. At the plate, hitting power grades have improved as well. He shows a balanced approach with hands working through a level swing path. Lower half works well and shows a feel for the barrel. For hitting grades to continue to improve, he needs to work to keep hands inside the ball to utilize all fields. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 71-76 mph with solid arm side run. Breaking ball displays 1/7 shape, gradual break. CH was above average, showing arm side run and was his best off-speed pitch. Control is a plus as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as more arm strength his gained through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard.

02/26/2012 - College PREP - Brentwood (Long Island), NY Jesse is a tall LHP/1B who has a good build and improved in a few areas of his game since we saw him last. He improved on his 60 time, now running it in 7.91. On the mound, his FB now ranges from 74-76 mph and shows some run. His CB has 1/7 shape and is thrown for strikes. He keeps his eyes on his target, he has good glove-side lead, and he repeats well. Mound effectiveness will improve if he can use more of his lower 1/2, stay tall, and avoid falling off in his finish. Defensively at 1B, he presents his glove well, he his active feet, and he is solid to his backhand. Looser actions and more arm strength will help improve defensive abilities. Offensively, he shows a crouched/open setup, short stride, and controlled balance. He gets his lower 1/2 thru, he shows decent rhythm, and he is a spray type hitter. Jesse has solid abilities and will continue to improve through hard work.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
