07/10/2023 - National Showcase - Bowie, MD Jesse is an athletic RHP/C who is a prospect on the diamond. On the mound, delivery is sound and repeatable allowing his arm to work clean/quick to the plate. Fastball showed a range of 78-81 mph with late life. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his splitfinger with sinking action. Slider displays tight spin with short break. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches. Behind the dish, he presents a soft/sure mitt showing great pocket awareness sticking pitches. He uses his body through the blocking process but needs to work to get body down sooner and improve lateral movement. Pop times showed in the 2.21 range with accuracy / carry (82 mph velocity) on his throws. Times will continue to drop as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he continues to shine through a tall setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. With 5 years to further develop, Jesse has potential and will get looks from the collegiate coaches as he continues to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
