09/23/2018 - College PREP - Fresno, CA Jesse is an athletic SS/RHP prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. In the field, Jesse shows active footwork and is agile moving to the ball. He gets into a square position and fields the ball out in front. He makes a clean exchange to throw and keeps his throws accurate to his target. Jesse can improve defensively by quickening his release on his throws. At the plate, this RHH sets up in an open stance and gets into his load well. He leads with his lower half and takes a direct swing to the ball, leading to consistent contact to all fields. Jesse can improve as a hitter by taking a shorter stride. On the mound, Jesse gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a clean arm and extends through on his release, finishing square to the plate. Jesse shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71mph with tailing action. Breaking ball sits from 58-62mph with 11-5 break. Changeup sits from 58-62mph. Jesse can improve as a pitcher by striding square to the plate. With three more years to develop, Jesse has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

09/10/2017 - Interactive Video Program - Fresno, CA Jesse is a SS/RHP who will graduate in 2021. Defensively at SS, he makes quick cuts/routes as he works into a low fielding position on GB's. He comes up with a clean exchange and makes accurate throws to his target. On the mound, this righty gathers over the rubber with a 3-pitch mix. He delivers a (FB, CB, CH) from a 3/4 arm slot with clean arm action and finishes in line towards home plate. With the stick, Jesse shows a square setup and gets back into a balanced load. He takes aggressive hacks through the zone and creates consistent contact with each pitch. Overall abilities in his game will improve with work on the following.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
