01/16/2015 - Under Armour All-America Pre-Season Tournament Ward continues to show solid play in his baseball abilities, both offensively and defensively. Defensive abilities are where he has improved the most, now displaying outstanding abilities. He utilizes his quick/aggressive feet as he moves well laterally, displaying range as he covers a ton of ground. He displays smooth / clean actions with hands / feet working well together through the fielding process, showing big play potential. Throws display accuracy and on line carry through a loose arm action as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate, he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and through a short / direct path. He works to stay inside the baseball, utilizing all fields and makes consistent hard contact.

09/27/2014 - 2014 Under Armour Showcase: Futures West JeVon is an exciting young 2017 grad with an extremely high upside. He has an ideal, athletic 6'4", 180 lb. frame that will continue to take on more muscle as he matures. He has long legs and a high waist with advanced coordination throughout. At the plate he has a pretty LH stroke that is fluid and loose. He makes hard contact without a high effort approach and appears very calm and confident in the box for a young hitter. As a defender, JeVon glides around the outfield and could well end up with the range necessary to play CF at higher levels. He tracks the ball well and throws accurately. This is a player that needs to be followed closely. JeVon has the chance to be a very special, game-changing type of player.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
