09/26/2010 - College PREP - Kansas City, MO Jimmy is a young (2013) two-way player as a catcher plus in the OF with an athletic frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature, adding muscle mass. As a catcher, his feet are active as he gains ground on his throws, which work in line to his target. He has a clean transfer and accuracy in the throwing process with pop times showing a range of 2.11-2.35. Receiving and blocking skills show potential as being quality tools at the next level as he continues to improve. As a receiver, he is soft, quiet, and works around the plate, and he has athletic actions as he centers himself in the blocking process. In the OF, he plays aggressive and takes proper routes and angles in working to get behind balls and playing through them with momentum to his target. He is effective as both a catcher and outfielder, so we like his versatility. Offensively, Hawk shows a balanced approach and uses all fields. Swing path is level but does get long at times due to an arm bar created in his load. Power numbers will increase as he gets stronger and keeps the barrel through the baseball at contact. With 3 years to further develop, Jimmy has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.
