12/15/2024 - National Showcase - Indianapolis, IN Joel, a 2025 shortstop from Hartland, WI, has a strong athletic build and showcases excellent actions in the infield. His fluid footwork allows him to efficiently move from right to left, closing distance on batted balls with good glove angles. Joel's short arm stroke and quick release enable him to make consistent throws from multiple arm slots, with an arm velocity reaching up to 83 mph, demonstrating both strength and accuracy. As a right-handed hitter, Joel starts with a tall, even stance and activates his hands early, showing smooth rhythm and good timing in his swing. He stays inside the baseball well, generating a fast barrel and consistently squaring up balls during batting practice. Another season of development will provide Joel with further opportunities to hone his skills, positioning him well for the next level of competition.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
