10/10/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Washington (Pittsburgh), PA Joey is an Outfielder in the class of 2024. He shows off a smaller sized frame but has some strength present and will have plenty of room to fill out. In the outfield, he does a very good job reading the ball off of the bat and taking efficient angle to the baseball. He works through the ball and shows a clean transfer. Does a good job using his momentum to throw. At the plate, he hits from an athletic and open stance. Shows a good load that he is able to get into consistently. Hits with good balance to all parts of the field. Showed a good lower 1/2 that helps him drive the baseball. Joey is a good player that we hope to see again in the future as he continues his development.

07/13/2020 - Official Player Development Membership - Avon (Cleveland), OH Joey is a young (2024 grad) R/R OF. In the OF, he has active prep as he hustles to his right and left with speed to track down fly-balls. He tracks the ball into his mitt, secures it with soft/sure hands and has a clean transfer to throw. Gaining more ground through the ball while strengthening his arm (long toss) will both aid in his OF development. As a hitter, this righty shows a tall/open stance with centered balance. He takes a hack on a direct path and squares the ball up, hitting line-drives. Engaging his lower 1/2 while swinging with more bat speed will help to increase pop off of the barrel. Only a 2024 grad - Joey still has a ton of time to progress to get to where he wants to be.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
