03/07/2010 - College PREP - Oklahoma City, OK Joey is a young, thin, OF who will graduate in 2012. Defensively, Joey is aggressive to the baseball and tracks down the ball well. He plays through the ball and gets rid of it quickly to his target. Added arm strength through a long toss program and a higher arm slot should help defensive abilities improve as he further grows and matures. Offensively, Joey has a good set-up and is currently a slap hitter. He can hit the ball to all fields, and with a more level swing, a looser grip, and added physical strength, offensive tool grades should improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
