10/25/2020 - All-In Membership - Newnan (Atlanta), GA John continues to show improvements in all his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate, hitting / power potential have improved through a tall, squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will continue to improve as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, defensive abilities have improved as he displays smooth / athletic actions. Feet are active as he works around balls and plays through with his body. Glove action is clean and presents well out front. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 70 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with sweeping action. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program.

01/18/2019 - Baseball Factory Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown John is a coachable SS/RHP prospect who worked hard on his skills during his time at the Spring Training at Historic Dodgertown. In the field, John fields the ball out in front of his body and works to keep his throws accurate to his target. Getting into a more atheltic fielding position can help John improve defensively. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes a short stride. He gets his hands activated in his load and drives through well with his lower half. He takes a level swing with decent bat speed, leading to solid line drives. John can improve as a hitter by getting into his load sooner. On the mound, John separates his hands on time and works with a clean arm. He stays inline towards the plate and finishes with a controlled landing. John's fastball tops out at 58mph. Taking a simpler starter step can help John improve as a pitcher. With six more years to develop, John has the time and potential to further progress his skills on the field.

10/28/2018 - Interactive Video Program - Peachtree City (Atlanta), GA John Evan is a young, athletic, 2-way player who plays SS and RHP. Defensively, John Evan fields aggressively, he has efficient footwork, and he presents his glove well. He has active hands, a clean exchange, and throws with momentum and consistency from a short arm action to his target. On the mound, John Evan works in good tempo, he has a clean arm circle, and separates on time. He gets good extension on his pitches and lands in a square direction toward home plate. Offensively, John Evan has an athletic set-up, a square stride, and good balance. He attacks aggressively, swings on plane, and makes consistent contact. Overall skills can improve if John Evan can work on the following.

1. Widen base
2. Range
3. Arm strength

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
