04/30/2017 - College PREP - Atlanta, GA John-Michael is a tall, lean 2B who has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed is outstanding as indicated by his 60 time of 6.92. At 2B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up but needs to play through more with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present earlier and more out front. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds/turn of the double play. Range is a plus as he utilizes his quick feet well in his lateral movements, covering a lot of ground. Throws are accurate with carry as he gets rid of the baseball quickly. At the plate he shows an athletic setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact with power showing best to the pull side. Hitting grade will continue to improve as he lets the ball travel and stays inside to utilize all fields. Power will increase as he works to utilize his lower half more efficiently. With 2 years to further develop, John-Michael has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
