03/10/2024 - National Showcase - Bronx, NY John continues to impress with improvements in his baseball abilities. On the mound, he shows a quick tempo and keeps his eyes on target through a strong balance point. Arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 60 mph. Fastball showed a range of 58-60 mph. Cutter has tight spin and short break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. At 3B, defensive abilities have improved. He shows good pre-pitch and utilizes his active feet well in squaring balls up. Hands are soft and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are loose and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn.

12/28/2023 - National Showcase - Milton, NY John is a RHP/3B who will graduate high school in 2029. He continues to show improvement in his baseball skills. At 3B he starts with a good prep step and creates good angles. He works from right to left and has a clean exchange. Shows good touch on his DP flip and follows as well a 2-hand pivot on DP's. His throws are on-line to first base with an arm velocity up to 63mph. At the plate he hits from a square and crouched stance. Has smooth timing to swing and gets his hands separated. A good lower half turn and a flat bat enable him to square up balls to all fields. On the mound he shows a clean arm stroke with ability to throw strikes. He attacks hitters with a FB that sits 55-59mph, a cutter, and a changeup with some movement. With 5 1/2 years of continued growth and development, John should make huge strides on the baseball field.

11/02/2023 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition John continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities on the diamond and did so in Cocoa this fall. John is a gamer and showed leadership qualities all throughout the camp. He has a great personality, is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be. On the field, foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he displays smooth actions. He shows active footwork as he attacks ball, working to square ball up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. Lower half works well through the swing with an aggressive hip turn. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 57-59 mph. With his changeup, he maintains arm speed but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Stock on the mound will continue to increase as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for John.

11/10/2022 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) John is a 2029 graduate out of Fishkill, NY who continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and did so at the Select Training event in Arizona. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At 3B, he shows smooth/fluid actions. Feet are active as he attacks balls but needs to play through with his body. Hands are clean and presents out front. At the plate, hitting/power potential has improved through an open setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields with gap-to-gap pop. Lower half works well through the swing as he transfers weight from the backside into a firm front side. On the mound, arm strength has improved as he threw his top velocity to date at 56 mph. Fastball showed a range of 49-56 mph. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength will aid in improving abilities on the mound.

07/07/2022 - Official Player Development Membership - Wappinger Falls, NY John is a strong 3B/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At 3B, he displays clean/smooth actions. Feet are active as he displays proper footwork as he works to square ground balls up. Glove action is clean and presents out front. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a closed setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing path. He stays inside the ball, spraying to all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. On the mound, fastball showed a range of 52-55 mph. He maintains arm speed on his changeup but throws too hard, resembling fastball. Getting on a long toss program to develop more arm strength and developing off speed pitches will aid in improving abilities on the mound. With 7 years to further develop, John has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
