09/26/2010 - College PREP - McKees Rocks, PA John showed some improvements in his game during his workout in Pittsburgh. He is a young, 2-way player that currently projects best at 1st base. Defensively, John has a decent approach, average glove, and he works to field the ball cleanly. John makes plays and throws with good accuracy to his target. John will need to lighten his feet, get his glove down sooner, and avoid throwing against his body in order to get better defensively. On the mound, John has a live / quick arm and he competes in the zone. He locates his FB well, has good direction toward the plate, and he keeps consistent velocity even from the stretch. John can improve his mound presence if he can improve his extension, and keep his eyes to his target better. Offensively, John has good balance and a short / strong swing. He finds the barrel of the bat, his lower 1/2 works well, and he has some pop in his bat. Solid offensive numbers can improve with better extension, and by working the ball to all fields.
