02/19/2018 - College PREP - Beverly Hills (Detroit), MI John is an athletic built SS/OF prospect who has a versatile skill set. Offensively, John has an open stance with a centered balance. He has smooth rhythm with a good load and a long stride as he uses his lower half throughout his swing. John shows fast bat speed with an on-plane swing path. He has an aggressive approach with a big swing. John is a line drive type hitter who can drive the ball to each gap with power. At SS, John plays with effective footwork and takes the correct angles to cover good ground. He presents his glove and fields the ball in a low position with firm hands. John has a quick, clean exchange leading into a loose arm action throwing from a 3/4 arm slot. He plays with momentum through the ball showing consistently strong throws across the diamond. In the outfield, John plays with fluid footwork and athletic actions. He makes the routine plays and fields the ball with soft hands. John stays behind the ball and does a nice job working through it. Overall, John is a talented prospect who has skill on both sides of the ball.

05/08/2016 - College PREP - Detroit, MI John continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. At the plate is where he has improved the most through a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through a level swing. He works to stay inside the ball, utilizing all fields and displays plus barrel accuracy. Power will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. In the OF, he has improved, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind and plays through with momentum to his target. Working to increase more foot quickness will aid in improving range. In the MIF, defensive abilities have improved as well, displaying smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying soft / clean hands. He shows off his athletic abilities on his feeds / turns of the double play.

09/19/2015 - College PREP - Detroit, MI John is a young OF/IF that will graduate in 2019. In the OF, he utilizes his athletic feet well in taking proper routes / angles to track balls down. He reads balls well off the bat and works to get behind balls and plays through with momentum to his target. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he increases foot quickness. In the IF, feet are active as he works to square balls up, displaying clean hands. Defensive grade will continue to improve as he attacks balls more and plays through with his body. Throws are accurate but needs to build more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows an athletic / squared setup and he tracks the ball well. Hands are aggressive and work through a level swing path. He makes consistent contact, as he works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he works to utilize his lower half more aggressively. With 4 years to further develop, John has abilities with time and room to continue to develop.

07/16/2015 - College PREP - Auburn Hills, MI John is a young OF that was consistent defensively and offensively in his first outing with Baseball Factory. Offensively, he was aggressive to take hacks and had a middle approach. He stayed inside the baseball well and had rhythm throughout the swing. He got his hands activated to hit and with more contact point awareness will begin hitting to all fields with some authority. Defensively, he prepped his feet to take good first steps, initiating angles and routes. He was aggressive to get ground balls and had a clean arm to throw with some carry. In all - John is a rising freshman that has some fundamental ability to add strength to before his spring season in HS.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
