07/21/2010 - College PREP - Sanford (Orlando), FL John is a solid, well built, RHP that will graduate in 2011. On the mound, John has good mechanics and a FB touching 84 MPH. He has good balance, a solid arm action, and good command of his CH, with good movement. John can improve on the mound with earlier separation and not slowing his body on his CB. Offensively, John has good balance and average bat speed and barrel accuracy. He hits the ball hard to the pull side and he makes good use of his lower 1/2. Less noisy hands, and a shorter stroke should help offensive grades further improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
