01/11/2008 - Under Armour Pre-Season All-America - 2008 John shows as a possible two player on the mound and at 1B. He currently projects best at 1B with he displays solid average ability. His foot speed is above average and he utilizes his athletic feet into smooth, easy and confident actions. He maintains excellent body control through his play. At the plate, John shows some strength and above average power to the pull side. His swing path does get long at times creating a dead pull type path. On the mound, John displays average to near average ability. We would like to see him concentrate his work on his offensive and defensive play at 1B. John has potential with a lot of room to continue to develop.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
