12/27/2021 - Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic John is a SS/RHP prospect who showcased his skills during the Recruiting Classic. In the field, John shows efficient footwork with a quick first step. He gets into position on time and fields the ball out in front of his body. His exchange is clean and he gets rid of the ball quickly, making strong/accurate throws across the diamond. Taking a better prep step can help John make more plays. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a wide stance and takes a soft stride. He shows fluid rhythm and works through a short swing, spraying the ball to all fields. John can generate more pop off the barrel by driving his lower half more. On the mound, John gathers over the rubber and works with a loose arm. He stays inline toward the plate and drives his back leg through. John operates with a two pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 72mph. Breaking ball sits at 64mph with 10-4 break. Extending through his release can help John improve his pitch command. Overall, John is a solid prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

07/25/2021 - Official College Recruiting Membership - Walnut Creek, CA John is a lean SS/RHP who has a promising future on the diamond. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are quick and work through an aggressive swing path. He stays inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At SS, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are active as he works around the ball and plays through with his body. Hands are clean but needs to present more out front. Range will increase as he improves foot quickness. On the mound, he gathers over the rubber and separates his hands on time. He works with a loose arm and extends through on his release, staying inline towards the plate. He shows a three pitch mix with his fastball topping out at 71 mph. Breaking ball displays 10/4 shape with gradual. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with sinking action. He can improve as a pitcher by long tossing to build up his arm strength. With 4 years to further develop, John has potential with time and room to progress his game.

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
