12/27/2016 - Under Armour Baseball Factory Recruiting Classic Johnathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities and has a promising future on the diamond. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60-time to date, now a well above average runner at 7.09. In the OF, range is a plus as he reads balls well off the bat and utilizes his quick feet well in covering a lot of ground. He plays hard and is not afraid to lay out for the baseball. Feet are aggressive as he works to get behind balls and plays through well with his body. Throws are accurate with carry through his target. At the plate, he shows a squared / balanced setup. Hands are quick (82 mph exit velocity) and work through a level swing path. He has strength in his swing with power showing best to the pull side. At the event, he was 4 for 8 with a 2B and 3B. Mental makeup is a plus as he plays hard, is very coachable, and is a great team player.

10/02/2016 - College PREP - Parker (Denver), CO Johnathan is a strong, athletic OF/2B who has good potential. As a right-handed hitter, Johnathan has a tall, open stance and takes a load with fluid rhythm. He does a nice job using his lower half throughout his swing. Johnathan gets separation with his hands producing hard contact and power to each gap. In the outfield, Johnathan plays with active, efficient footwork giving him agile range each direction laterally. He fields the ball in a low, athletic position with a soft glove and has a clean exchange. Johnathan's arm action is loose throwing from a high 3/4 slot showing carry on his throws. At 2B, Johnathan has fluid footwork and moves well with above average range laterally. He has soft hands and a quick, clean exchange. He has a short, loose arm action from a low 3/4 slot and works with good momentum towards his target. Johnathan is a talented prospect with upside to be an impactful player at the next level.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
