01/18/2021 - National Evaluation and Tryout - Omaha, NE Johnathan is a C prospect who continues to showcase his skills on the field. Behind the plate, Johnathan tracks the ball into his glove and works to make accurate throws to the 2B bag. Sitting in a more athletic stance can help Johnathan improve his overall catching ability. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance and takes aggressive hacks, producing solid contact. Johnathan can barrel up more baseballs by working through a shorter swing. Overall, Johnathan is a developing prospect who has the potential to further build upon his skills on the field.

01/17/2020 - Baseball Factory's Spring Training at Pirate City (Ages 12-14) Johnathan continues to show improvements in his baseball abilities. Foot speed has improved as he ran his best 60 time to date. In the OF, he displays smooth / fluid actions. Feet are aggressive as he takes proper routes / angles in tracking down balls. He works to get behind balls but needs to play through more with momentum to his target. Range will increase as he continues to improve foot quickness. At the plate, he shows a squared setup. Hands are loose and work through an aggressive swing path. He works to keep hands inside the ball, utilizing all fields through a line drive approach. Power will increase as he utilizes his lower half more efficiently. At the event, he was 3 for 5. On the mound, Fastball showed a range of 51-52 mph. Breaking ball displays 3/9 shape with across break. Stock on the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength through a long toss program. Mental makeup is a plus as he is very coachable and works hard to be the best player he can be.

11/08/2019 - Baseball Factory Select Training & Competition in Arizona (Ages 12-14) Johnathan is an athletic and talented 2024 2-way prospect that was very coachable all week. In the OF, Johnathan had good reads off the bat and he made solid throws from his position. He needs to continue to be on time with his prep step and improve his first step to the ball. At the plate, Johnathan starts in an open stance and makes hard contact to the pull side. He needs to continue to load his hands back into the drive position, get to balance at contact, and look to attack the inside part of the ball. On the bump, Johnathan attacks hitters with his fastball and has a good presence. He needs to continue to find a balance point, separate on time, and ride his back leg toward the plate. Johnathan has a good size for his age and will continue to improve with experience.

08/04/2019 - Accelerated Interactive Video Program - Council Bluffs (Omaha), IA Johnathan is a RHP/OF prospect who will graduate in 2024. On the mound, Johnathan's fastball tops out at 54mph. In the field, Johnathan makes the routine plays and works to make accurate throws to his target. At the plate, this RHH sets up in a square stance with center balance. He takes a level swing and drives the ball to his pull side. Overall abilities can improve with work on the following.

1. Balance point
2. Separation
3. Arm action
Fielding
1. Footwork
2. Lateral range
3. Fielding position

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
