06/24/2010 - Omaha Pro Select Training and Tournament - Week 2 Jon is a young two-way player as a catcher and on the mound with a thin frame that shows projection as he continues to physically mature. Feet are active in working in line with his target. Pop times show a range of 2.44-2.50 with blocking and receiving skills shows as potential tools at the next level. Offensively, Guerra shows an aggressive approach with his hands. He needs to work on his setup in his lower half and utilize his lower half more efficiently to improve power. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 71-73 mph with sinking action. Off speed pitches need further development to be quality pitches at the next level. With 2 years to further develop, Jon has abilities with a lot of room to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
