04/26/2015 - College PREP - Plymouth Meeting (Philadelphia), PA Jon is a lean SS/RHP that will graduate in 2018 with a promising future on the diamond. Currently, he projects best at SS for the next level. Feet are active / aggressive as he moves well laterally and works to square balls up, displaying soft / sure hands. Defensive grades will continue to improve as he attacks balls, plays through well while presenting hands more out front andincreases foot quickness. Throws are accurate, but will benefit by building more arm strength through a long toss program. At the plate, he shows a balanced / squared approach and he tracks the ball well. Hands are quick, flashing bat speed, working to and through a level swing path, creating extension. He shows a feel for the barrel with baseball jumping off the bat when centered, mainly to the pull side. Hitting grades will continue to improve, as he learns to work inside the ball, utilizing all fields. Power numbers will continue to increase as he utilizes his lower half more aggressively. On the mound, fastball shows a range of 72-75 mph. Breaking ball displays 11/5 shape with gradual break. He maintains arm speed on his changeup with arm side run. Control is solid as he throws strikes with all his pitches, locating to both sides of the plate. Stock to the mound will continue to rise as he builds more arm strength. With 3 years to further develop, Jon has a lot of potential and will catch the eyes of the collegiate coaches as he continues to improve.

Tool Grade Scale

Our main goals with the BF "10-70" Scouting Scale are to provide the player with a realistic evaluation of his "PRESENT" abilities (what he can do today), and to provide college coaches with information they can use to identify and/or compare potential recruits.

Tools are graded for all players and pitchers, regardless of age or graduation year. However, for High School players we use only grades 20-70 (grades 10-18 do not apply), while for Middle School players we use only grades 10-52 (grades 55-70 do not apply).
